Collecting in Cyberspace A Guide to Finding Antiques and Collectibles On Line
Collecting in Cyberspace A Guide to Finding Antiques and Collectibles On Line

This short volume is big on online collectible resources. Author Shawn Brecka shows how the Internet has been particularly useful to those who collect everything from glassware to old postcards. She has compiled listings of over 2,000 online sites by category–among them art deco, toys, vintage clothing, musical instruments, posters, sports memorabilia, comic books, and more. The book classifies the different types of sites into clearinghouses for other collectible sites, sites that hold online auctions, mall and show sites, and general collectible sites. Brecka includes tips on making online purchases, participating in online auctions, shipping items you sell, and checking the references of those you buy from. She also directs you to available merchandise from the Web’s larger online services and newsgroups.
User Ratings and Reviews
1 Star Too many lists, not enough text
So much more could have been included here, but this should have been a dynamic web site, not a book.
2 Stars A Brave attempt, but hopeless
Unfortunately, many of the sites in this book are defunct or extremely limited. Probably not the author’s fault - just reality - the length of time it takes to get a book published vs the speed of change on the internet. In the categories I sampled, only a few sites were useful and operational, and many great sites weren’t listed.
